Installation Steps:

Review Approved Shop Drawing:

Begin by reviewing the approved shop drawing, which includes essential details about the Conduit’s layout, diameter, and the location of conduits in Slabs and Walls.

Prepare conduits.

Ensure that approved material required to conduct work will be available.

Before the beginning of work, the area and access will be inspected to confirm that the site is ready to commence the work.

The site engineer/supervisor will also check that the tools and equipment available comply with contract requirements.

Mark PVC Conduits Locations

The supervisor will ensure that all the grid lines and datum lines are marked by the surveyor and that all the routes and marking are based on the datum line provided by the surveyor.

The supervisor will conduct a site survey and mark the route of conduits as per approved drawings. If there are any difficulties in executing the work, these will be brought to the notice of the engineer for corrective action.

Conduit Size

PVC conduits of the correct sizes will be used for concealment of electrical services in the concrete walls & slabs.

The minimum conduit size used will be 20 mm in diameter. The conduit size selection is made as per technical specifications and approved shop drawings.

How to install conduits

Bending the PVC conduits

Wherever conduit is to be installed in vertical walls the run of conduit will be kept straight.

The bending of conduits will be done using proper bending springs and the straight lengths of conduits are coupled using standard couplers glued using good quality PVC sealant.

Fixing the PVC conduits

All the cast-in conduits will be firmly bent to the steel rebar and conduits are placed sandwiched between rebars so that future drilling of anchors should not damage cast-in conduits and the installed wires.

Wherever cast-in conduits are to be terminated onto back boxes standard conduit accessories approved in the material submittal will be used.
