The most used filters are the Critical Path, Milestone, Longest Path, Lookahead, Completed, In Progress, and Not Started filters.
Critical Path: helps you identify the critical activities whether you are creating a baseline schedule so you need to create a logical critical path or updating the schedule so you need to know the new critical activities due to the updates.
Milestone: This filter provides the milestones only that you created so you can easily check if you covered all the milestones agreed upon with the client or not also makes it easier to assign constraints to the milestones. It will also be easier while updating to filter the milestones to check the project’s progress.
Longest Path: the longest path will be the same as the critical path if you are still in the creation of a baseline with no actuals nor updates, meanwhile, if you are updating a schedule the longest path and the critical path are not the same. So in order to check the longest path and what is causing delays in the project you might need to use the longest path filter.

Before updating, both the critical and longest paths are the same.
After updating, with the same percentage and the same data date, only we changed the filters one for the critical and one for the longest path. You will find that activity G is not on the longest path but it is on the critical path.
In Progress: if you are submitting a new baseline, then no progress shall appear when you use the filter. meanwhile, if you are updating you can use it to see the activities that are in progress.
Completed: if you are submitting a new baseline, then no completed activity shall appear when you use the filter. However, if you are updating you can check the finished activities.
Not Started: you can use this filter to know the activities that did not start yet.
2 Weeks Lookahead: the lookahead filter helps you filter the activities that will start/finish after the data date by 2 weeks. This can be used as a good indication in the reports, now you know the resources for the next 2 weeks and the type of work that will be done so the successors of them will be expected. If you know that the masonry will be finished during the 2 weeks lookahead, you will be expecting that plastering works will start soon.
