As a project manager you need to understand that you have a time frame of doing the work. So you have to make sure that everything is going on as planned by keeping track of the project so that you are able to meet project deadlines. There are times when delays cannot be avoided and the project just has to delays. When you notice that you are about to be late for the project deadlines you should never panic. Panicking will only make you do bad work. It would be better for you to run late and produce good quality work than for you to rush and do shoddy work.

Understanding what you and your team are capable of doing is also very important. You need to understand that you have certain limitations and that there only so much that you can do. Do not accept something that you know very well that you cannot be able to complete in the timeframe that has been set.
