KeymasterThat is very good question. Before answering your question how to remove negative float, let me explain to you first from where the negative float comes. Primavera is an amazing software. However, it is a machine program, you give it inputs and it gives you the results based on your inputs. Accordingly, if did something wrong in your inputs the results would have some wrong values such as (negative floats). Following are the common reasons of negative floats:
1- Start/Finish constrains that does not match with your relationships (the relationship want to push the activity to start or finish in certain date but the constrain does not allow for it).
2- The project must finish by constrain date does not match with relationships results date.
In order to remove the total float, copy your current schedule as baseline, and then remove all the constrains in your schedule and run it. You will find variance between the baseline and the current schedule, try to match them by modifying the relationships then add the constrains once they are typical.
for more information about how to avoid negative float, please read this article:
You are welcome to share your schedule with us by sending it to [email protected] and we can take a look and advice what is wrong with it.
